Around the world (while never leaving Bangkok)!

Like many Asian countries, the shopping mall plays a big role in the social culture of Thailand.  One of the more interesting malls we came across in Bangkok was Terminal 21.  This has been designed so that it feels like you are walking into an airport, then each floor’s motif is themed after certain cities around the world.  As you travel from one floor to the next, you are greeted by another set of cultural stereotypes.  As you move into Tokyo, there is a greeter waiting for you:

Though I've never been to Tokyo, I'm sure the 7 foot waving cat statues are a pretty regular fixture there

I also assume there are sumo wrestling matches on every street corner too...

Up the escalator to London, and we were again met by the local sites.

It turns out that these gaurds don't flinch either!

They pretty much nailed London from what I remember of it.

From there we were off to sunny San Francisco to see the Golden Gate Bridge.

No mall would be complete without their very own Golden Gate Bridge

After all this travel, we needed some travel snacks.  Emer found this delicious little cookie shop.

While the themes on the floor were fun, the fact that they continued right into the bathrooms really added a nice touch.

Even the bathrooms matched the theme of the floor

Then after a long day of travel, we found time to sit down for a nice meal and relax.

There was an array of fine dining (and reasonably priced beer)
